Illustrator allows users to preview the results of various color palettes and swatches by opening the Swatches panel. The Swatches panel can be accessed by selecting Window > Swatches, or by Control-clicking (or right-clicking) on a path or object and choosing Swatches from the shortcut menu that appears. The Swatches panel contains a variety of pre-existing colors and swatch sets that can be used to quickly preview the results of various color combinations.
There are many ways to access swatches, depending on the software and device you are using. Generally, you can access swatches by (1) accessing the menu system of the software or device and selecting “Swatches”; (2) searching for a specific swatch; or (3) opening a file containing swatches.

Illustrator saves swatches as vector images which can take up a lot of space on your hard drive. If you’re not using them, you can delete them to free up space.
To restore swatches in Illustrator, follow these steps:Select the objects you want to restore the swatches for.On the Tools toolbar, click the Swatch Library button.In the Swatch Library dialog box, click the Restore button.In the Restore Swatches dialog box, select the objects you want to restore the swatches for, and then click OK.
